Latisse FAQ

Latisse is a topical treatment used to enhance the length, thickness, and darkness of eyelashes.

Latisse works by penetrating hair follicles at the base of the upper eyelashes, where its active ingredient, bimatoprost, binds to specific receptors on dermal papilla cells. This binding triggers cellular changes that enhance hair growth, leading to longer, thicker, and darker lashes.

Clinical studies have demonstrated the safety and efficacy of Latisse in promoting eyelash growth. Patients typically begin to observe early lash length and density improvements within four weeks of nightly application.

By the eight to twelve-week mark, noticeable enhancements become more pronounced, with lashes appearing significantly longer and fuller. Optimal results are typically achieved after
16 weeks of continuous use.

The application process of Latisse is straightforward yet precise. A single drop of the solution is dispensed onto the sterile applicator brush provided with the product.

Careful attention is paid to wiping excess solution away to avoid unnecessary contact with the surrounding skin. The brush is then delicately swept along the base of the upper eyelashes, ensuring even solution distribution along the lash line.

While Latisse is generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience a few transient side effects, including some mild irritation, itching, or hyperpigmentation of the eyelid skin. These effects are typically mild and resolve upon discontinuation of the product.

As with any medication, patients need to consult with a healthcare professional before
initiating treatment with Latisse, particularly if they have a history of ocular or dermatologic conditions.
